Southern Indiana

Southern Indiana men’s basketball has been punished by their conference, in that they cannot go to any sort of postseason or playoffs level of competition. The reason is that they reported their own violations in May, as everyone did. Apparently theirs were even worse than the usual and included academic violations of various kinds and providing and paying for transportation for the athletes. It’s a bit of an odd situation for the student athletes this year, because they are being watched even closer than usual because of some high-profile issues in the last few seasons. It’s too bad for the school, but they essentially admitted mistakes when they imposed their own penalties by vacating all their wins and returning funds from the tournament.
