Myles Brand has passed on. Most of the regular fans probably don’t recognize his name, but he was a very big presence in the NCAA world. He had been diagnosed a awhile back with pancreatic cancer and passed away this week at the age of 67. He was the president of the NCAA and was a major force in giving the organization a real face and a way of being that was strong and successful. He became the head of the organization in the early part of this decade and since then there has been ever-greater interest in college sports, including a fair amount of growth on the women’s side. He will be missed and hopefully his replacement will be equally worthy of the title.
