Rules Changes

If you are also concerned about the heavy under-basket contact that seems to be more and more a part of the college basketball world, you will be happy know that the Rules Committee is in the process of making new regulations about some parts of the game. They are considering putting a restrictive arc right around the basket, outside of which a defender has to establish a position and hold it to draw the charging foul. This is but one of the under-the-basket changes. They are also working on changes to the rules about when a substitute free-throw shooter may be put in and how that person is to be chosen. The person who’s chosen by the other coach must be one of the four remaining players on the court, so that it doesn’t penalize the team that got fouled. Both are good and logical rule changes.
