Memphis coach John Calipari is now leaving after the end of the 2008-2009 season and is taking over the recently vacant Kentucky coaching spot. Calipari signed an eight year $31.65 million dollar contract with the Kentucky Wildcats. This new deal make Calipari they highest paid basketball coach in the country. Coach Calipari has career record of 445-140 wins/losses in the seventeen seasons he has been coaching and has lead both Memphis and Massachusetts to a Final Four appearance. Memphis promised that it would try and do whatever it could possibly do to match Kentucky offer, but Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart out matched anything that Memphis was will to pay. The decision its self was not an easy one for coach Calipari who took more than a day to decide what he was going to do.
