Guess who has jumped up to #1 in the rankings this week? Pittsburgh. I can just hear you saying “are you kidding me?” Not at all. On Saturday, both #2 Oklahoma and #3 North Carolina lost to unranked teams and were therefore unable/unlikely to move up to #1. The University of Connecticut was previously #1, but they lost to Pittsburgh last week, so they lost that ability. The team is 25-2 this season, and has been hanging in the top 5 or top 7 over the course of the entire season. Some of the other teams have been a little more meteoric in their movement from week to week. It’s only a few weeks from selection day and the top teams are switching places frequently. We think it will probably be an exciting tournament this year.
