Illini Lose

The Minnesota Gophers really took it to the Illinois Fighting Illini last night. The Illini scored the lowest point total that they’ve had for more than 20 years, losing to Minnesota 59-36. It’s not quite as big a loss as it sounds, but it’s still a kind of embarrassing feeling for Illinois. The Illini haven’t been having quite the season they had hoped. A decent season, to be sure, but not nearly as good as some people had expected. They will win some more before they move on into the tournament, should they make it that far. And Minnesota is in a similar position. They hope to make it that far, but it’s not for sure yet.
