It had to happen

Well, it was destined to happen sometime. Wake Forest, the number 1 ranked team back then, was 16-0. They hadn’t lost a game. But last night, Wake Forest fell for the first time to the Virginia Tech Hokies, 78-71. The Demon Deacons were outscored in the first half by ten points, so this is why they lost yesterday. In some of the polls right now, the Deacons are no longer #1, but there is still a good case to be made that they can retain the number one ranking. Who knows, but there are several good teams out there. Several of them have fallen off a little bit from where they were expected to be. Duke hasn’t stayed up the way they expected, nor has North Carolina.
