How’s your 12 year old?

NCAA Basketball offered an interesting change to their rules last week. Apparently, 7th graders are now considered official prospects in the game. This way, they can start recruiting kids as young as 11 or 12. Why? There has been an issue growing lately about elite basketball camps lately, which invite younger prospects to come and learn from a real college coach and play with other people who are really good players. This pressures other coaches to offer this kind of camp, in order to stay competitive with the pool of good middle school aged players. It just keeps getting crazier and crazier then. We’ll have to keep an eye on that now, because it’s possible that this could get even younger now. Ugh!
