Xavier’s Smothering D

It wasn’t the offense that helped the Xavier Musketeers avoid the upset from Rhode Island, it was their stout defense. The offense, which mustered only a 38.9 shooting percentage from the field, was taken out of its rhythm early on and could never reestablish themselves. Luckily for them, however, their defense held the Rams to 37.1% from the field, and hung on late in the game to secure the 67-65 victory. At this point in the season, Xavier is 14-2 overall, with a 3-0 record in the Atlantic 10.
