Upsetting
December 26th, 2008 Posted in UncategorizedIn a week that featured a couple of upsets of unranked over ranked teams, perhaps Gonzaga’s loss to Portland was the most surprising. Portland State hasn’t had a win over a ranked team for more than ten years now, dating back to the 1996-1997 year when their basketball program was reinstated. But their convincing 77-70 win, in which they outrebounded and out 3-point shot Gonzaga, has proven that they can play at a very competitive level. As for Gonzaga (number 7 at the moment), this is absolutely not what they wanted. After losing a close matchup with number 2 Connecticut on Saturday, a second loss in a row (to an unranked team no less) is far too much. Get more information about either team at ncaa.com.
