Good News For Florida
October 3rd, 2008 Posted in Florida GatorsGood tidings have come to the Florida Gators basketball team. After some recent tense and uncertain moments, the Florida Gators have signed a head coach to lead them through the new season of NCAA basketball. That is, they’ve resigned Billy Donovan.
Though he had agreed to sign this contract extension over a year ago, Billy Donovan was still on contract with the NBA Orlando Magic team. He ultimately was released from the Orlando Staff, however, and has resigned with the Florida Gators program through the 2012-2013 season. He will be paid a handsome $3.5 million per year to stay on the coaching staff.
He’s worth every cent, however. In his approximate 10 years of coaching the Gators he has taken them to 3 National Championships (2000,2006,2007), winning the 2006 and 2007 championships, and has posted a 285-115 record. With his return, the Florida Gators will look to reclaim the title once more.
