Irish Need Luck Now More Than Ever
September 11th, 2008 Posted in UncategorizedIs it fortunate or unfortunate that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have one of the toughest schedules for the 2008-2009 season of NCAA men’s basketball? On one hand, they have to face extremely tough opponents like UCLA and Indiana. On the other hand, what better way to showcase your talents than against the alleged best in the nation?
The Fighting Irish return this year with 4 of their 5 starting players and most of the key reserves that led them to a 25-8 season last year. In addition to that, they return with a desire to wreak havoc on the NCAA. It was the Irish who ended back-to-back UCLA winning streaks many years ago, and they will use that as fuel for their fire. They also believe that they will be more than adequately equipped to handle the Indiana Hoosiers.
But the tables may have also turned on the Irish. Now, they are on a 37-game winning streak at their home basketball court, only two games away from beating the school record set in 1948. You can bet that any team coming into Notre Dame territory wants to break the streak of the team that is notorious for breaking win streaks in the past.
Notre Dame is also scheduled to play against Connecticut and Ohio State mid-season.
