On September 5th, 2008, Patrick Ewing was officially inducted in the NBA Basketball Hall of Fame at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Massachusetts. The former Georgetown player said it was a dream come true.

“I went to the Hall of Fame when I was younger and never thought in my wildest dreams I’d be [part of it]. Now I am. In grade school, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would possibly wind up being here, and now I am,” Ewing stressed then double-stressed in a press conference last Friday. “This means a lot. I’m being recognized for all of the blood, sweat and tears I’ve put into my 17-year [NBA] career.”

But it was in Georgetown that Ewing really took the nation’s attention. It was there that he led the Hoyas to three NCAA Finals, winning the 1984 championship, and gaining three-time All American honors (1983, 1984, and 1985.)

“My four years at Georgetown were the best part of my life. I came to college a boy and left a man.”
