After reclaiming the gold for American basketball in Beijing a little over a week ago, Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K) has returned to his office at Duke University ready for college basketball. While many thought it would be a poor choice for him to coach the Redeem Team and that it would negatively affect his college coaching ability, Coach K asserts that he is indeed a changed man; one who has to appreciate the game again and now has been reinvigorated as a coach.

“…Because [Duke has] been very, very successful…they expect you to be perfect. It’s like, ‘What, we haven’t gone to the Final Four? What, we didn’t win the national title?” Coach K stated at the Duke University campus. “Part of that then becomes, you win, and sometimes you’re just relieved to win. At the end of that Spain game, most people would say, ‘Weren’t you relieved?’ No, I wasn’t. I was exhilarated. It was euphoric…the way it should be. That’s the way it’s going to be for the rest of my career here at Duke.”

If Coach K, who has led Duke to 10 Final fours in his Duke Career, was just going through the motions as of lately, imagine what he can do when his heart is truly into again…
