NCAA looking to make changes to goaltending rule

The NCAA basketball rules committee is pondering upon making a change in the existing goaltending rule and has recommended that a ball that misses the rim and hits on the backboard above could not be touched by any player regardless of its upward or downward flight. Earlier, only the ball that was in its downward flight was subject to a goaltending call. This was one of the 50 proposals that were laid by the joint sub committee members of both the men’s and women’s side. A handful of minor changes like home team wearing a light uniform as against the touring team wearing a dark uniform etc were approved and a final call on this will be taken when the NCAA’s playing rules oversight panel meets next month.
