APR results points out weakness in men’s basketball

May 6th, 2008 Posted in APR

The latest Academic Progress Rate by the NCAA has been released, and it does not show the men’s basketball in a very good light. The sport was slammed for not performing up to par. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA was quick to point out that while overall there has been a great improvement, he was still concerned because the men’s basketball division did not maintain a good record. The NCAA showed its displeasure over the fact that out of the 200-odd punishments issued for APR underperformance, almost a quarter was for men’s basketball. Southern California suffered the most with the loss of two scholarships and they were told to improve or else they would be blacklisted from postseason plays.
