Chris Douglas-Roberts, the strapping young junior guard at the University of Memphis recently released an official statement last Friday announcing that he will forgo his final season of collegiate eligibility and instead, enter the NBA 2008 Draft in order to pursue his dream. He goes on to say that he has enjoyed the entire three years of glory at the University of Memphis and hopes that he will be able to repay the coach and everyone at Memphis after he made it big at the NBA. He is also clearly excited to be joining fellow Memphis team member Derrick Rose in the path to go fully pro.
Head Coach Joe Calipari is ecstatic that Douglas-Roberts is going for the NBA and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours. He also thanked the young player for his excellent contributions to the team which include helping the Memphis Tigers secure a Division 1 record with a total of 38 wins.
