Raleigh Chalks Up $5.1M With NCAA

Raleigh nets in a record total of $5.1 million garnered just by hosting first and second round games in the recent NCAA men’s basketball.

According to official records by the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, the games hosted between March 21 and 23 at the RBC Center also managed to garner approximately 13318 visitors.

A large majority of the tickets were sold to visitors who came from outside the Triangle area and netted in great profits especially when these numbers totaled up to almost 13000 hotel room nights. An astronomical amount of publicity and media interest was also generated, indirectly promoting the Raleigh area and improving the tourism industry.

All in all, the RBC Center played host to a grand total of six first and second round NCAA games that were participated by the North Carolina, Davidson, Georgetown, Indiana and Arkansas teams.
