Darrin Horn set to coach South Carolina
April 4th, 2008 Posted in coaches, ncaa basketballSouth Carolina officials are tight lipped about signing Western Kentucky coach Darrin Horn who led the Hilltoppers’ to one of their best finish in the NCAA basketball tournament for the past 15 years. It is reported that Horn has informed Hilltoppers’ school president about accepting the offer made by South Carolina. Horn had an excellent 111-48 result in his five seasons that he coached the Western Kentucky side and led them to the Sun Belt Conference title this season.
The 35 year old head coach of Western Kentucky took the reins from Dennis Felton in 2003 and will replace Dave Odam, who announced his retirement at the end of the season, as the Gamecocks coach. The South Carolina team has been struggling off late to prove their mettle at the NCAA tournament performed with 14-18 result this season. Horn, who has received excellent reviews for his coaching tactics, will have to mend different ways to bring the competitive spirit back into the South Carolina boys.
