The California Golden Bears were not able to enter the NCAA basketball tournament for the fourth time in five years and the athletic director of the Golden Bears, Sandy Barbour, was so disgusted by the team’s dismal showing that she sacked the 12 year basketball coach Ben Braun. Under the leadership of Ben, the Golden Bears have played the NCAA tournament for five years. Sandy said that even though the team is very talented, it did not play up to its potential and she decided to sack the head coach after going through and evaluating the program over the entire season.

The Golden Bears have achieved 219-154 record at school level under the guidance of Braun and also made it to three consecutive NCAA tournaments from 2001 to 2003. Braun thanked the California community of all the support they gave him in the last 12 years and said that he was proud to have coached one of the county’s top universities.
