Georgia beats Arkansas, qualify to play in the NCAA tournament
March 19th, 2008 Posted in basketball, teamsThe Georgia Bulldogs have done themselves proud by qualifying to play in the NCAA tournament since 2002 and they have done so by beating the Arkansas team 66-57 in the finals of the South Eastern Conference tournament. The Bull Dogs had to go through a lot of hardships like tornados, venue change and playing a double header, in their NCAA bid. The Bull Dogs are the third team in the history of the SEC tournament to win four games in four days and they actually had to play two games in a single day due to the tornado that hit the Georgia Dome.
The Georgia coach Dennis said that it was very heartening to see his side enter into the NCAA tournament since 2002 despite problems of injuries to key players, disciplinary problems and defections. He appreciated the boys for mustering courage at the times of adversity and praised them for coming up with flying colors when it really matters the most. The Arkansas by virtue of defeating Tennessee and Vanderbilt has also entered the final and has done so for the third consecutive time. Georgia who hardly had any supporters in their first two games in the tournament had more than 75% of the people supporting them in the final match of the SEC tournament.
