The Florida State came up trumps against Miami with a final score of 75-72 in a hard fought battle that came down to the wire and needed overtime play to settle the scores. This is the fifth straight victory for the Florida State against their arch rivals, Miami. Ralph Mims showed some amazing basketball skills as he top scored for the Seminoles with 25 points and was instrumental in scoring the final basket that got the Florida State its victory. The game had to be taken into extra time as both team were tied on 66 points at the end of the regulation time. Florida State’s win is the first in their last three extra time games.

The other players who shined on Saturday for the Florida State were Toney Douglas and Jason Rich with 16 points each. The efforts of Jack McClinton who top scored in the match with 22 points did not help in the Miami Hurricanes to topple Seminoles. The malfunctioning of the shot clock delayed the start of the game by about 16 minutes and needed the service of the public address system operator to let know the players when the 10 seconds remained on the clock.
