The Tennessee Volunteers must have had their heart in their mouth when the Kentucky team came close to defeating them in the college basketball on Sunday. The Volunteers have just got their first No 1 ranking in school history last Monday and needed to score a win over Kentucky to stay afloat on top of the Southern Conference. The final score line of the match was 63 – 60 in favor of the Tennessee Volunteers and with one more win, they can detain the SEC East division which they have not achieved for the past 41 years. Chris Lofton was instrumental in guiding the Tennessee team home with 14 points, that had a jump shot with 1:15 left on the clock and he said these are the nuances of college basketball and one will have to deal with it properly.
The 3-pointer miss by Kentucky’s Joe and Japer in the final 20 seconds of the match sealed the match for the Volunteers and they saved their face from the defeat they suffered in the hands off the 18th ranked team Vanderblit last Tuesday. The Tennessee coach, Bruce Perl, said that the narrow win shows the boy’s determination and focus on the game. Ramel Bradley top scored for the Kentucky with 17 points whereas it was Tyler Smith who top scored for the Volunteers with 15 points.
